Shiva, the auspicious one
For piano solo
Helen Gifford's travels to India early in her creative life have had a lasting influence on various aspects of her music. As one of the triad of supreme gods, Shiva can destroy and recreate the world in his famous dance, and is also worshipped as the god of wisdom, sciences and the arts.
Shiva, the auspicious one was written for Michael Kieran Harvey and premiered by him in 2012 when he delivered the annual Peggy Glanville Hicks Address.
